• Hinchinbrook Island

    September 20, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Finally, after weeks upon weeks of rain and wind we had a break in the weather. We didn’t want to let the window pass by, so we packed the boat up and headed to Lucinda.

First stop, Hinchinbrook Island! What a sight, it is a massive uninhabited island. Apparently, it has its own weather system. As we approached the island you couldn’t see the top, it was surrounded with cloud. Once we arrived, there was so many tall mountains, it looked like we were entering Jurassic Park.

We found a spot to anchor, as I jumped off the boat the sand was littered with sand dollars 🤗. I collected a few then we headed up to Zoe Falls.

Wow, an island with a fresh water, water fall, that you can only get to by boat. It was stunning. We swam in the lower plunge pool with tons of jungle perch. The kids were killing the March flies and feeding the fish. The icing on the cake was the walk up to the top, infinity pool. The view was out of this world, we swam in the warm waters looking over Zoe Bay with the most amazing blue waters and green rainforest.

After a few hours at the falls we headed back for lunch and a walk along the beach. I could have walked the whole beach, I was getting some epic shells, but time was slipping away and we needed to get back and re-fuel for tomorrows adventure.

Another bucket list item ticked off.
