Today we decided to punch it out to Bramble Reef, for a day of fishing and snorkeling.
On the way out we came across a pod of dolphins, they were in a playful mood and raced along side the boat while we sped along.
Once we hit the reef, Brett and the kids could not wait to start fishing. They were pulling in heaps of small coral trout, but we were not getting any big dogs.
Brett caught a nice size yellow flag, which we cooked up for lunch.
We were all starting to get a bit hot, so we found a nice piece of reef to stop at for a snorkel.
Brax could not wait to get in the water for a spear fish! He was not even deterred by the sharks swimming around. He was straight in! The kids were in their element. They were in the water for hours. Brax wore his wetsuit, but it was not needed as the temp was around 30degrees.
After we dragged the kids out of the water, it was time to head to Orpheus Island to anchor up for the night. On the way across I spotted a birdnado. Brett and the kids moved so fast getting the trawling rods in the water. Everyone was stoked when we caught a mackerel. It may have not been the biggest one they have ever caught, but god it was delicious. We have not had a fed of mackerel in nearly 2 years, we all forgot how good it is!
A big day meant we pulled up into Orpheus as it grew dark, we cooked up dinner and were all ready for bed.もっと詳しく
