    Christmas Day!

    December 25, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ -5 °C

Christmas Day was a massive highlight! After travelling on our own for the past almost 4 months, it was awesome to spend the day with great friends.

I find it’s always a fair gauge of how much you enjoyed a moment when you realise you didn’t take any photos. This was totally one of those moments. Between both Jessie and I we have a collective handful of photos from the day and they’re basically the same.

We started the day with a mega breakfast cook-up which took us well into the morning. After that, the idea for the day was to head down to a “beach” for a fire and a picnic lunch. What we definitely have realised is that the Canadian idea of a beach is very different to ours. Practically any stretch of land along some water wide enough to plant a chair can fit the description.

We packed some firewood and some snacks and drove up to a point along the lake above Revelstoke Dam. Besides the blistering cold wind, we set up our picnic and enjoyed being out in the mountains for Jessie’s first “White Christmas” experience.

While it didn’t actually snow on the day, the first fresh snow that we had while in Revelstoke came that night. The perfect Christmas present just in time to head up the ski resort for our first day the next morning.
