• Washington DC bound

    18 de febrero, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ -17 °C

Today was pretty much a travel day. We got up early to do the final packing and cleaning of the room before heading down to the foyer to wait for our Uber. The temps outside were -20 with a feels like of -26 degrees, she really turned it on for our last day!

The drive to the airport was about half an hour, we flew out of Midway airport. I was expecting a lot bigger airport but it was quite small. We checked our bags and headed through security. I was patted down as the buttons on my jumper must have looked like I was concealing something.

It wasn’t a long wait and we were boarded. We were super happy today as we jagged exit row seats including a window seat on Southwest, that never happens as they don’t have designated seating. The plane today held about 240 passengers but there were only 58 passengers. We were one of the first passengers on.

I captured these amazing photos of Chicago and Lake Michigan. I feel very blessed. The last photo is the shadow of our plane in the cloud with a rainbow halo, pretty spectacular.

It felt like we had only just got to altitude and the pilot was saying we needed to prepare for landing. The flight was only about an hour and 20mins.

We disembarked and head to baggage claim. Again we were expecting a huge airport and this one was super small, we flew into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. We collected our bags, ordered an Uber and we were on our way. The airport is only about a 10 minute drive so we were at our hotel before we knew it. We are now an hour ahead of Chicago so another time zone to get used to.

We unpacked (well I did) and headed out the door to get some food for breakfast and dinner for the next couple of nights.

We will do a much better look around tomorrow.

    We walked 4.7kms today.
