• Adelaide to Alice Springs

    12 décembre 2024, Australie ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Checked out of our hotel, and had a drive around the north part of Adelaide, found tree lined avenues & Wellington square,(park).so stopped for a coffee & walked around the park. Headed off to the airport for our flight to Alice Springs, I’ve been intrigued by this place, partly the terrain, partly because it is the home to the Royal Flying Doctors, and I used to watch the children’s programme back in the 70’s about the flying drs, during the long summer holidays, & partly due to watching Priscilla Queen of the desert. Sadly as we had to wait so long for a taxi to take us from the airport to the hotel, by the time I got to the museum for the flying drs it was closed. The heat hit us as we walked across the tarmac from the plane to the terminal. 38 dry hot heat..
the flight from Adelaide was incredible, to see the coast line then the arid landscape of desert & red surface & rocks was something I’ve never seen. We flew over a big lake that seemed to have large ships( oil tankers) crossing it. Then dried river beds & dried lakes like salt lakes .. very windy landing with cross winds as we came in.. & finally our 1st swim in the hotels pool..
