Day 1 - Just arrived at first cottage

We are sitting on the patio drinking teas while we take in the view across to Loch Leven.

Lovely location and nice big well equipped cottage. Weather so far has been gloriously warm and sunny.

Would you believe it☺ when we picked up the hire car guess what it was. A Citroën DS 3 the same as our new car just the diesel model, so what a coincidence, we were expecting a little Corse.Read more

It's been a lovely sunny and warm day again. We had planned to cycle around Loch Leven but there are apprently no cycle hire shops open on a Sunday. So we took to our feet and found a nice sandy beach right on the Loch edge.

We then walked back to the pier in Kinross to meet a boat which took us to Loch leven Castle in the middle of the Loch. This is were Marry Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567. To finally escape the Island in 1568 with the help of Willie Douglas who looked after the boats. It was also visited by William Wallase and Robert the Bruce.Read more

Day 3 - First Beach

Decided to have a beach day as the weather was so nice. First Beach we found was Leven Beach which was nice and expansive. We spent a couple of hours paddling in the sea. As we left Leven a cold wind had started to below so we needed to find a sheltered beach somewhere else.Read more

We found our sheltered beach at Earlsferry, a little village further along the Fife coast. Although the weather had started to turn and so we only had intermittent sunshine but it was still warm out of the wind in our little tent.

Unfortunately our ballon flight tomorrow has been cancelled due to the weather forecast so we have rebooked for Wednesday evening so keep everything crossed!Read more

Day 4 - Sore Bottoms!

Another lovely warm day so we decided to hire some bikes to cycle around Loch Leven. Took us roughly 4 hours with stops for refreshments so we had sore bottoms by the end of it but really enjoyed the scenery on the way round.

We are planning a visit to St. Andrews tomorrow and hopefully our ballon flight in the evening.Read more

We visited both the Castle and Cathedral. I climbed the town to get some great views of the town. As you might expect alot of things surround Golf so we ended up having a fish and chip lunch at the Golfers Inn over looking the first Tee of the Links golf course.Read more

Some of us had to get in basket to keep it on the ground and then when given the word the rest of us had to run and jump in. Unfortunately this meant I could not photo the lift off itself.

It took 25 minutes or so to find somewhere suitable to land as most of the fields either had livestock or crops in them.

The landing was eventful as we ended up on our side and were bounced along the ground for a bit which caused some of the ladies to scream. But it was fine and no one was hurt.

So all in all it was quite an adventure which we both really enjoyed. It is so peaceful up there, when the burners are not going, and you feel like you are floating on a cloud.Read more

We were fortunate to be able have our ballon flight this evening particularly as it was cancelled on Tuesday and that on average there is a 80% chance of a flight being cancel due to the Scottish weather. In fact there was a woman on our flight who had been trying for two and half years. So we felt very lucky to succeed on our 2nd attempt.
