Basilica Estrala lisbon

We head back to the basilica to see the inside, where we can't take pictures, but it is very impressive.

the carvings Statues of Faith Adoration, Liberality and Gratitude are on the four columns.

the bas relief which adorns the frontispiece represents the adoration to the sacred Heart of Jesus.

the four niches in the facade house statues of saints related to the order of Carmelites - Saint Elijah, and Saint John of the cross, above and Saint Thereisa of Avila and Saint Mary Magdalene of Pazzi below.

The bell gables of the twin bell towers are topped with trimmed turrets and adorned with flamboyant stone ornaments,. There is a clock face on each bell tower.

A clerestory with surrounding veranda crowns the majestic dome over the transept. A sphere supporting an iron cross tops the celestory.
