Kaikoura Seal Colony

After recovering from our eventful morning with a nice nap, we set out to explore downtown Kaikoura more, hoping that more would be open than last night. It's a cute town with shops featuring work from local artists as well as some of your typical tourist shops. We enjoyed walking around and popping into shops, and we grabbed a beer and dinner before setting out for our evening entertainment - the local seal colony.

The first ones we saw were pretty far from the walking path, but near the turnaround point, we found some way closer, including a bold little pup! He was boldly facing off against a seagull for a position on top of a rock, and then went to play with a friend before being kicked out by the friend's mom.Leggi altro
