Stopped at Pearl Harbor, we had tickets for 3 but came early so waited in standby, got on within 15 minutes. • Captiol Building Honolulu

    October 10, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Got to see the only Royal palace on US soil! It used to be the capitol building but they built a new one behind it. They also had their judicial building where we learned that if a foreigner was at court with a foreigner they would have a jury full of foreigners. If it was foreigner vs Hawaiian it would be 6 foreigners and 6 Hawaiians, and if two Hawaiians all 12 jurors were Hawaiian.Read more

  • Aulani DVC Tour

    October 12, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Today we got to meet the most impressive Disney cast member I have ever encountered! We went in asking for a tour of the 3 bedroom villa, and Eric took us on a cultural tour around Aulani that made us love the resort even more. He explained that Aulani was blessed in 3 ceremonies before it opened to honor the people who could’ve passed here. Those three ceremonies were a western ceremony, an Asian ceremony, and ended with a Hawaiian ceremony. Also we learned this resort is the largest Hawaiian contemporary artwork collection in the world. All art work here was made by famous artists that the locals know when they come to the hotel. Also we learned all the music at the hotel are Disney classics sung in the Hawaiian language, sung by famous Hawaiian artists! Disney truly did an incredible job honoring the culture at this property, and it made me so excited to come back again one day.Read more

  • Day 2 at Sea

    October 15, 2023, North Pacific Ocean ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Day 2 at sea! We met the princesses in the morning. We also went to Jon Ashton’s cooking class and it was so cute! We learned how to make a chicken sandwich and got to try his. We also then went to Jason Edwards, who works for National Geographic as a photographer. He gave a talk on photography in foreign countries and how to be respectful and how to take good photos with right settings. It’s been cool to see Nat Geo on board since that has been a recent Disney acquisition. We ended the night with the golden mickeys which is a broadway level show for Disney cruise line.

It was a very typical day at sea with DCL today!

  • Day 3 at Sea - Crossing Equator!

    October 16, 2023, North Pacific Ocean ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

One of the parts of the trip I’ve been the most excited for! Crossing the equator!

This was the first time ever Disney has had a presence in the southern hemisphere! They have no parks or cruise ships currently located out here and as of this evening they now do. In typical Disney fashion, it was a huge event.

In the afternoon we had King Tritons Royal Trial of Equatorial Passage. We learned that kissing a fish was a common rite of passage for those crossing the equator. We also got a fun certificate from going from Pollywogs (never crossed equator) to Shellbacks (crossed equator)!

This evening we had a party again at 10:30 for the official crossing of the equator. I decided to fact check Disney and confirm they actually crossed when they said we did, and as you see from my compass we truly did! On the dot. A few days back our captain said he was going fast to ensure we made it in time for the party, and we ended up going so fast that they took time today to wrap up some propeller testing from the dry dock the ship had.

We had a beautiful sunset tonight too, these photos are unedited and the colors were amazing.

In addition to this huge Disney first tonight, it’s also the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney company today. So cool to be apart of this monumental day on a huge anniversary!
