• Mormugao (Goa), India

    May 2, 2023 in India ⋅ ⛅ 95 °F

Goa state in southwestern coast of India. It’s India smallest state and the highest GDP per capita.
We went to historic city of Margáo that still has lots of old Portuguese houses. Goa became an overseas territory of Portuguese Empire in 16 century and was annexed by India in 1961.
We visited 16 century house still occupied by the same family. The member of the family gave us a tour of the house, showing us the portraits of his ancestors and old original furniture and accessories.
Then we visited another 250 years old house, where the family lives and also use it as a restaurant for private lunches where we had a wonderful home made lunch.
We drove back, stopped at the market to get some mangos (in season now), then local cashew nuts.
We ended day with a concert by four opera singers. Overall nice very hot day.
