Day 8: Lima by Day and Overnight to ATL

This was our final day of the trip and we were on our own with an airport shuttle pick up scheduled for 7 pm. While checkout was 12 noon, we managed to pay $30 and extend checkout to 6 pm and as a result kept our bags and also got ready for the overnight flight.
After breakfast at the hotel, we used the day to visit the Inka Plaza for souvenirs shopping. The gals had already checked out the Inka Market the day before, so we decided to try the plaza. After shopping we dropped off things at the hotel and went to the Larco Museum. Highly recommend the museum to enjoy pre-Inca and Inca culture. Post museum, we ended up eating at the museum restaurant which is to die for. Exquisite ambience and great cuisine.
We returned to the hotel, got ready and boarded the shuttle to the airport. The ride was 3 hours long due to gasoline shortage in Peru. Also, when we got to the airport, we were delayed and shortchanged in that none of the lounges were accessible or open. Bad ending but we made it home okay and our friend promptly picked us up.
