    December 4, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

This was our first day in NYC 🗽 A bit of a crazy start to the day, as we over slept and woke up at 4pm NYC time!
Didn’t matter we got moving and spent the next six or so hours walking the streets and getting a feel for the place. It has been around 1-2 degrees for most of the night, so quite brisk.
Our apartment is situated two blocks from Times Square, so we headed there first. It feels just like day time with all the lights, it is quite a sight. Then we made our way to 5th Avenue via Bryant Park. Here there were Christmas markets, an ice skating rink and another beautiful Christmas tree. Then we went onto to the Rockefeller Centre to see the Christmas tree and the beautiful light show on Saks Department store. We continued to wander the streets and made our way back to Times Square for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Back home at 11pm to try and sleep and get our bodies onto NYC time, with the hope that we will see NYC in daylight tomorrow, will need to st an alarm!⏰

Yes! Got to see daylight today! Bonus!
Took the Hop On Hop Off bus for the Downtown route! OMG! It took all day with the traffic! Did get off to investigate Chinatown, Tribeca (awesome coffee!☕️) and the Empire State Building. The day looks beautiful with sunny skies but the cold was crazy, 1 degree all day!
Also found a gem for my Black and White family⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️
Went to dinner at an amazing restaurant, it was like tapas but with a twist. Lots of small dishes to share ranging from ricotta ravioli, stuffed eggplant with goats cheese, spicy meatballs and octopus bruschetta, just name a few. Our dinner guests were my travelling companion, Mary-Anne’s USA relatives. It was a lovely evening with great food and wine and very enjoyable company.

    December 7, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 -2 °C

Today we hopped on and off again on the bus for the Uptown trip. Visiting the East side, Harlem and Central Park. As it was freezing cold there was more “hop on” than “hop off”. Central Park looks real colourless in the cold, no green grass and no leaves on the trees. However, it is still an amazing amount of Park in the middle of this city. We had lunch in a true NY Deli today, the chicken noodle soup really hit the spot on a two degree day. Tonight in minus one temperatures we ventured out to see “Kinky Boots” on Broadway. The show was amazing, I loved every minute! I would highly recommend it.
We finished the night off with traditional NY pizza for supper.

Final day in New York, took it pretty easy and slow as I think the jet lag has caught up with me. Wandered the streets after breakfast on our way to the theatre booking office. We booked to see the musical “Beautiful - The Carole King Story”. As the name suggests it was simply beautiful. Funny, emotional and very entertaining. There were so many songs that I knew but didn’t realise that she had written them with and without her husband. Visited the HBO shop and purchased some “Game of Thrones” keepsakes.Read more

    December 13, 2018 in Iceland ⋅ 🌧 7 °C

Well I’ve spent the past four days in the most amazing country. Iceland is the most raw and natural place on this earth. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. The capital city, Reykjavik, which has been home, is a city with a village feel to it. There are approximately 300,000 people that call Iceland home but it feels like a whole lot less. After the hassle and bussle of New York, Reykjavik is a slow moving breath of fresh air. The city has tiny cobblestone roads and brightly coloured houses that are generally two story with one house upstairs and another separate house downstairs. The sights and tourist attractions are numerous, I managed to fit in two tours, Northern Lights, Golden Circle and a very special day at the Blue Lagoon. This is one place I would definitely want to revisit.Read more

    December 14, 2018 in Iceland ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

Final day in Iceland today. It was nice to have a sleep in after two massive days touring with very early mornings and very late nights. This place is truly amazing, the people are extremely friendly and hospitable, their second language is English so communication is very easy. The scenery is some of the most spectacular I have ever seen and in my four days here I have only scratched the surface. It is quite expensive to eat here but I was aware of it beforehand and just made sensible choices. Thank you Iceland for a wonderful experience, I would love to return one day.Read more

    December 23, 2018 in the Netherlands ⋅ 🌧 8 °C

I have been in Amsterdam for the past 10 days. It is a beautiful little city with lots of winding streets and lane ways. During this time I have managed to immerse myself in being a “local” by supermarket shopping, navigating the public transport and just chilling out in funky little cafes. As a tourist I have visited the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum museums, as well as the Hop On Hop Off bus routes. There are a wonderful array of restaurants within easy walking distance. I have used my UBER app for the first time and taken my first trip, which I found extremely easy, as well as ordering UBER Eats for home delivered take away. The one main memory I will have is waking up on my first morning in Amsterdam to snow! Although it was only a small fall and it was gone by late afternoon it turned the streets into a beautiful winter wonderland. Unfortunately it was not my white Christmas but I loved it anyway.Read more

    December 27, 2018 in England ⋅ ⛅ 3 °C

First day in London today. We bought a two day pass for the Big Bus Hop On Hop Off starting at 9am and we returned home at 5:30pm. BIG DAY!
We made our way to the Hard Rock Cafe which is situated on the north side of Hyde Park, so Mary Anne could add to her pin collection. After that we made our way back to Trafalgar Square and had a late breakfast, early lunch at a cost pub called the Admiralty. From there we made our way to Covert Garden to the market and enjoyed mull wine and I bought a new hat. After finding out that many of the West End shows I liked were way out of my price range I decided to give the theatre shows a miss. From here we made our way back to Buckingham Palace, unfortunately Liz and the family were not there to great us with tea and a scotch finger biscuit but we did get to take some great photos along with ten thousand others.Read more
