    School of Hard Knocks

    We were so happy to find a unique Malaysian experience for the whole family that netted us kickass usable souvenirs and a crafty “bricolage” afternoon working together! The Royal Selangor visitor centre had just the right package for us! Did you know that every piece of Royal Selangor pewter is made right here in Malaysia? It is because Malaysia used to be the tin capital of the world and that is one of the key elemental components of pewter.

    So nice to learn a bit about this well-known Malaysian export and also spend some time hammering out our own pewter creations. After about a half-hour of good honest hard work, we are now the proud owners of our very own set of four matching pewter candy dishes! With a little help from our teacher Hafiz, even Meg was able to hammer her own little monogrammed dish. Most importantly, the kids had a great time and really appreciated this different sort of tourist attraction!
