Schlossgarten walk from Mitte to Library

    July 30, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We have discovered that the Stuttgart area, and indeed Baden-Württemberg generally, is great for short family breaks. The Bäckerei and Metzgerei are delicious, the people are warm, the kids can improve their German and there is plenty to do - from strolling the massive Schlossgarten, to all the shopping you could wish for around Königstrasse, to beautiful parks, ancient castles and well-curated museums.

Do wish that there was a little more English at some of the main attractions, but totally understandable that might not be a priority. The Stadtbibliothek at Europaviertel more than made up for that, with a silent practice piano, rich collection of French and baby German books, as well as arguably OTT automation for routing books to and from its seven floors.

Really glad that we ended up finding accommodations in the Mitte part of town, which put many sights and activities in easy walking distance. Next time, we aim to properly explore the Black Forest and get a lot more hiking in - likely armed with a car.
