Today we drove to the village of Vinci, which is where Leonardo da Vinci grew up. It was a scenic drive to Vinci. The da Vinci part of his name means of/from Vinci!

We went to a museum that showed some of his inventions. Sadly none were interactive like in Rome. There were some of the same ones as in Rome and some were different.

There were also his anatomy discoveries. I did not go in the anatomy place because it creeped me out. Mama found out that the reason our guts coil around is because if they were straight, the food would fall straight down, not digesting properly. The coiling slows down the process.

I bought a wooden puzzle with interlocking parts that you have to take apart and make it again. I have managed to take it apart, but not make it yet :)

We then drove a bit further to see Leonardo's birthplace. While we do not know where Leonardo lived as a child, we know where he was born. He was born in a house on the outskirts of Vinci in the hills overlooking the town. The house is still there. It is made of stone and is very old. The area is very beautiful and breathtaking.

I really enjoyed today and I learned so much about Leonardo da Vinci.
