Al Fahidi, where Dubai story has started

In the morning we first went to Al Fahidi. Al Fahidi is the historic old quarter of Dubai with traditional buildings. This is the place where Dubai was born. The meaning of Dubai is "connected", because the city was seen as a link between Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Dubai was founded in the 18th century as a small fishing village, the city grew rapidly, first through the pearl trade that brought wealth to the people, but after artificial pearls were discovered in Japan, they needed something new to make a living. During this time, the Al Maktoum family helped people survive. This brought the family high reputation and until today they are the richest family in Dubai and also the royal family.
