• Lake Moraine Sunrise

The alarm went off at 5:20am and we had both had a good sleep although it was definitely too short. We quickly packed our bags and double checked we had our food bag. We were planning on a 20km hike so we definitely did not want to forget anything again! I checked the weather and it was meant to be -6oC in the morning rising to a top of 3oC. I had my thermals on and my thermal jumped bad my fleece jumped underneath my jacket to ensure I was warm enough.

We drove to the Lake Louise Shuttle carpark where we had booked the shuttle for 7am checkin. When we arrived we could still see the Northern Lights faintly dancing in the sky. We thought it was quite amazing that we could still see them! We checked in and hopped on the shuttle. The weather looked like it would be a clear day, so we were hoping the sunrise would be perfect.

It took 30 minutes to arrive at the lake and it was about 20 minutes until sunrise. We quickly walked to the viewpoint on the rockpile and there were people everywhere!
The sky was beautiful will colours of pink and orange above the snow capped mountains. We waited until we could see the sun light up the tops of the mountains. We took lots of photos and then at about 8:30am headed over to the trailhead to start our hike.
