• Banff to Vancouver

    October 12, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ -2 °C

We woke up at 6:30am and relaxed in bed and had our breakfast. We then packed our bags before checking out of the accommodation at 8am. We had a free tank of fuel included with our rental car so we filled up the tank with 2L which we thought was just enough to get us to Calgary Airport based on what the car said. We then went into Banff and grabbed a coffee before heading towards Calgary.

Our flight was at 12pm and we were due to arrive at the rental drop off at 10am. We were both a bit concerned we hadn’t left ourselves that much time in case of delays. As we drove closer to Calgary the car said we had about a 15km buffer in term of fuel, but suddenly at 50km left to empty the car’s fuel dial went to empty and the car said LOW FUEL. I was panicking as we still had 20km to get to the airport. We were also concerned we didn’t have time to fill up either. We continued on to the airport and thankfully made it to the rental car return!

We dropped off the car and headed into the airport where we checkin with WestJet. We walked around the airport and I bought a book as I had finished my book I brought with me. We then headed to our gate and boarded not long after. Scott had a window seat and we spent most of the flight looking out the window at the Rocky Mountains beneath us.

We arrived in Vancouver at 12:30pm due to the 1 hour time difference, and caught an Uber to our hotel to checkin.
