• Pentecost River & Bindoola Gorge

    August 22 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We woke up this morning at 6:30am and ate breakfast. We had seen on the trail map at the lodge we could go for a walk at Salmund River. When I googled the walk we couldn’t find any information but there was meant to be a track near the Pentecost River. We headed to the Pentecost and found what potentially used to be the track but it was completely overgrown.

We drove along the Pentecost River before driving to Nyarli Lagoon which was also quite overgrown and then heading to Bindoola Falls. We walked along the escarpment looking to into the water pools and after walking about 1km up the river we turned around and headed back to the station.

We had a look at the camping sites along the Pentecost River and met a person who said they had seen a saltwater crocodile and about 12 freshwater crocodiles at night!

It was already 11:30am and I wanted to go for a walk so we decided to the Wildflower Valley Trail Walk which was a 6km loop walking along a valley floor. The wildflower season is between May and June so there weren’t meant around. Even though it was already 35 degrees there was a cool breeze so it wasn’t too bad! along the walk we also saw some black cockatoos.
