We took a 3 hour guided Catboat tour on Mount Dora Lake this morning. I was the driver of my boat. It took practice but when we felt ready we went for a full throttle, water doused thrill ride all around the lake. The high-speed adventure allowed us to drive our own boat as we explored Lake Dora and the world-famous Dora Canal.

The boats were two seater speed boats that jumped waves with ease but could also slow to a crawl when in the narrow canal. I read that the movie “The African Queen” was filmed in the canal. I’m sure you will recognize it. The water was like glass. There were 1,500 year old cypress trees draped with moss, and sprouting cypress knees to help the trees breath. To add to this unique scenery were birds, turtles, alligators and snakes. It’s crazy busy on the lake and so peaceful in parts of the canal.
