    Why am I flying from Gatwick?

    The journey begins with me rummaging in the bin on the train to find my train ticket that I had accidentally thrown away instead of the empty toothpaste box 🙄
    All arrived safely at Gatwick for a delayed fight to Milan Malpensa. Lynne did a marvellous job with hire car and driving on the right for a two hour trip to Altomincio family park. Greeted by Suey and Abigail who had made a lovely Bolognese with chilli. The 3 bed mobile home is lovely and will be cosy if we have to stay inside. Fairly stress free day around let's hope for good weather tomorrow! 🌞Læs mere

    Sunshine and swimming

    Restful night in our mobile home next to the babbling brook. First ones at the pool for an early swim. Really should have staked our claim to some sun beds at this time as the pool area soon filled up! The foodies in the group (Jenni and Megan) along with Lynne and Sue were keen to go to the supermarket to get stocked up with fresh fruit veg cheese and olive oil for marvellous lunch time banquet. Afternon spent at the pool and checking out the bar and shops.Læs mere

    Trip to Peschiera and Sirimone

    Leisurely morning after a turbulent nights sleep with Jenni! As predicted the thunderstorms came but had cleared by lunchtime so off we set to visit Peschiera. Jenni and Megan helping Sue navigate the roads and Julie and Gilly with Lynne. As Gill doesn't know her left from right she wasn't much help! Arrived to find it was market day so the car park we had planned to meet was taken up with market stalls! After an italian late lunch by the river we moved on to Sirmione and took a boat ride round the peninsula. Walked up to Grotte Di Catullo - the remains of the largest and best preserved Roman villa with panoramic views that once had a thermal bath system. The Romans were definately ahead of their time!Læs mere

    Desenzano del Garda

    Another beautiful day for exploring, headed up to Desenzano for the market to buy things for a picnic. Gathered the sweetest tomatoes, freshest foccacio, formaggio di capra and Italian sausage. Along with grapes, watermelon and peaches. The fruit tastes so good here.
    Jenni and Suey were successful in buying clothes from the stalls along with a few souvenirs. Drove to Rocca di Manerba, for a short hike up La Rocca for spectacular views over Lake Garda.
    Lovely day ended with a quick swim to cool down and a game of Uno!    Læs mere

    Beautiful city of Verona

    A day out to this beautiful city with marbled walk ways and cobbled streets, leading to Juliettes balcony. Walked up the 368 steps to take in the views from the Lambroti Bell tower.
    Enjoyed the fresco paintings, marbled floors and painted ceilings of the Bassilica de Santa Anastasia some of which have survived since the 15th century.
    Much needed break at La Tradision bar for Italian pastries and reviving cappuccino.
    More sight seeing across the Ponte Scaligero followed by Caffe al Teatro for our evening meal before going to my first Opera at the Roman Ampitheatre in Verona. Carmen - I was impressed with how much of the music I recognised and grateful they had big screens translating the story. We were sitting almost at the top on the stone steps but still had a great view and how the sound carried was amazing. A very special experience to tick off my bucket list.    Læs mere

    Rain and thunderstorms

    Thunder, lightning and rain all through last night. All had to get packed up today for the drive back to Milan Melpansa in the rain, well done Lynne. On arrival had to adopt the airport postion for a 5 hour delay! It's been a long time since the four sisters have been on a holiday together, as it was a fun trip I Hope we can do it again sometime.Læs mere
