A very smooth and stress free trip from home to Santorini. Even managed to get our nails done at the airport! The hotel is very welcoming with great beer and right on the beach - 10 out 10 day!

Day 2 Lazy Sunday..

Day spent checking out the local area! It's very sunny!
Breakfast in the sunshine followed by a short walk. Found the local church ...it was closed. Sunbathed on the beach until lunch, black sand is scorching. Quick change for traditional Greek dinner and dancing! Opa!Read more

Sailing

A delightful day sailing around the islands of Santorini with a truely international group of people Mitchell and Alexandra from Florida - celebrating their engagement. Caroline and 3 friends from Perth - celebrating a 50th. Raffie and his wife from Brazil - on their honeymoon, Two sister from Spain holidaying with grandparents from France.
Beautiful sea views with dramatic volcanic cliff faces of black ash, red iron ore and white pumice. Splendid food with local wine, a cloudy sunset and fabulous company.Read more

Trekking with Lizards

Walked up the mountain to see Ancient Thira unfortunately the site was closed when we reached the top but the views were great. It was slightly overcast today which we were grateful for when descending. Lots of lizards followed us but they are a bit camera shy. Very relaxing afternoon and found a lovely restaurant Cyclades tavern away from the seafront for the evening.Read more

Walking to find windmills

It was gray and forecast rain today so went on a bus route to Emborio. The first bus didn't arrive and the second was 10mins late and very full standing room only. Fortunately a passenger told us when to get off! We enjoyed exploring the old town which has been left in its original state with no access for cars. A great place for hide and seek! Great views from the top near the old windmills that are slowly been restored. Here we ate our fresh baked bread sandwiches which were delicious.
As we did not enjoy the bus ride we decided to walk back to Perissa. Only 50mins but it was along the busy road with no pavements! Thanks to Google maps eventually find a cut through so we could walk along the beach. 12km later we definately earned our cocktailsRead more

Santos Winery and Sunset

Catching some rays and swimming today before heading up to Santos Winery for the most delightful gastronomical experience. Such a breathtaking view and perfect sunset

Beautiful blue roofs of Oia

Caught the bus to Oia today, very busy on both buses to Fira then Oia People don't que so it's very much push and shove to get on, which neither of us like to do, so we were fortunate to get a seat. The journey only took 1hr 10mins by bus so glad we didn't pay €55 for a taxi.
Oia is very pretty and the outlook quite breath taking. The streets are quite narrow for the crowds all trying to get that Instagram photo shoot! Fortunately there was only one cruise ship visiting today sometimes as many as seven turn up. The shops are beautifully expensive all selling handmade Greek jewellery and clothes.
