• More of Assisi

    I’m still finding things to see/do/eat that I hadn’t done in previous years here in Assisi. A previously unexplored church and restaurant ended up on the (unplanned) agenda yesterday.

    The church is the Cattedrale di San Rufino. San Rufino is big here - the first bishop of Assisi, martyred, and the patron saint of Assisi. The cathedral is large but relatively simple. There are really compelling sculptures of Christian figures and other artwork all around on the walls of the nave. I didn’t take a pic, but some of the floor is glass panels through which you can see the previous floor beneath. I think every church here is built on top of several other churches/temples.Read more
