  • Made it to Puente La Reina

    April 14, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌧 48 °F

40k steps, 16.7mi and we are here ! it was a hard and rainy day, very steep. Puente La Reina is a cool town with only 2800 people - but it’s only a 15 min drive to Pamplona. So although it feels like an isolated, far small town to us, it’s more of a suburb in a way.Read more

  • Last Day of Walking for Auntie :(

    April 15, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 57 °F

Made it to Estella, which is probably my favorite city besides Pamplona thus far. Walked about 16.7 miles today with weather that was very indecisive about what it wanted to be.

  • Walking to Logroño

    April 17, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 39 °F

Today was a longggg day. Walked 17 mi in hot weather w hardly any towns placed in a spot that made sense for me to stop - meaning I accidentally arrived to today’s hostel running on nothing but this morning’s cinnamon roll and little bocadillo.Read more

  • In Logroño

    April 17, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

Arrived around 1:30! Met ppl staying in my hostel and wandered around the city with them all afternoon, got dinner, and got back at the hostel at 9pm. This brought my distance walked to 25 mi and a whopping 56k steps 🫣🫣 might not have been the best idea seeing as how my trek tmr is longer and hotter hahahRead more

  • 20 mi day to Najera

    April 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 43 °F

Today was my worst day so far, but it sounds like it was equally hard for everyone else who came from Logroño to Najera 😅 my albergue is only 15€ and is rlly nice despite sharing a room w 5 others. Tomorrow should be an easier day.Read more

  • shorter day today to Santo Domingo

    April 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 57 °F

today was a shorter today, which was nice seeing as my last couple of days were on the longer side 😅😅 got to my town for the night at noon, which is about 2-3 hours earlier than when I am normally done walking. and then drinks w friends, while waiting for laundry - a nearly daily routine thus far 😂Read more

    April 20, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

starting to feel the desert heat that I’ll be feeling more of in the coming second third of the Camino. today was still fun because I had very interesting talks w new friends, (despite getting lost and accidentally taking a +2.5mi detour) and because the albergue I’m staying in tonight has a pool !!!! 😁😁😁Read more

  • signs on the camino

    April 21, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

i have lots of pics of signs I’ve seen on the camino that I want to remember but haven’t been able to include bc I normally can only post only 10 photos. I’ve fixed that so Im posting a small compilation of Camino signs rn :)

I’m translating them but the caption only allows 100 characters so I have to shorten some/my explanation.

  • 11 days of walking , now in Atapuerca!

    April 21, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 73 °F

Atapuerca is a really cool small town ! While only about 50 people live here year round, it has HUGE anthropological significance as it’s an “exceptional reserve” of the earliest humanoids in Europe. I walked quickly to beat the heat (arrived around 1:30) and was really glad I did because the museum in this town closes at 3 ! :( Amazing to think that I had no idea I would stumble upon such an important site this morning !!Read more

  • Burgos ! Burgos ! Burgos !

    April 22, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

Today was a short, slow day that was along the highway most of the day :( but in other news, Burgos is a really cool city that reminds me so much of Madrid (which I already miss so much 💕💕💕) I wish I could stay here and explore more so I’ll definitely have to come back !Read more

  • hontanas

    April 23, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 43 °F

today was a long 18 mile walk thru the “mesetas” - fields - which was time for lots of reflection and discussion with the people i walked with. the albergue im staying at is top-notch, with by far the best shower I’ve had on the Camino. I’m excited for the communal meal 🥳Read more

  • 22 mi to fromista !

    April 24, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

I was EXHAUSTED yesterday after (hopefully) my longest day on the Camino so I skipped my post and am retroactively posting it today. But, Fromista was a cool city (I think - I fell asleep alarmingly early and didn’t have a chance to explore it). To keep me going for all 22 mi, I walked with a Pennsylvanian named Caroline for most of the day. I was proud of myself for being able to keep up w her - a mom that solo thru-hiked the AT and has a goal of running a marathon in every state (she’s run one in 37 states so far), all of this on top of being a mom to 3 boys that are 33, 35, and 37.Read more

  • in Carrión de los Condes

    April 25, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 57 °F

Following my longest day, i had a short day - only about 13 miles. Still, i did not feel well, not just physically, but also unmotivated. I simply did not want to walk today. Walking 13 mi when there’s not even an ounce in you that wants to do it is nearly an unmatched mental challenge 😂. But now I am in Carrión (which is at the 400km mark i think), staying in a 4 star hotel that used to be a monastery that my mom booked for me saying it was her favorite stay on the Camino, so all is well. :) also in choosing my pics, i realized I didn’t take a lot today. I think I begrudgingly stomped my way here all 13 miles and forgot to enjoy it. 😅Read more

  • recharged ! and in Moratinos

    April 26, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 50 °F

I made it pretty far today :) last night I felt very sick and was unable to eat anything. I still didn’t feel normal this morning and couldn’t eat breakfast either. Nevertheless, I felt I did not need to take a taxi nor sit around longer, and began my walk. I was a bit worried as there was about 10 mi in nature before the next town. Luckily, 5 miles in and conveniently when I started feeling better there was a food truck in the middle of the 10 mile stretch between towns and I was able to eat!! The rest of the day I walked with random people I happened upon and ended up in the town where most people end their day (Ledigos) at around 12:30 and got lunch. It seemed too early to end my day and I felt leagues better than I did last night at that point, so, I decided to continue. I am now writing this in Moratinos at around 2 pm, a small town that is about 4 miles from Ledigos where I think I’ll stay for the night if there are beds available.Read more

  • Reliegos !!

    April 27, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 50 °F

Today was a challenge ! I ended up walking a marathon - 42km ! In doing so, i put myself one full day ahead of schedule. So I now have time to squeeze in a rest day where I need one (which I might need after today 😅), or end up spending an extra day in Leon or Santiago! Besides the last two or so miles, I wasn’t feeling too bad, likely thanks to amazing home-cooked Italian meal I had at my albergue last night. 😂 also, for some reason it is only letting me upload 10 pictures lately, rather than the usual 20 :(Read more

  • Leaving Leon !

    April 29, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 54 °F

Today started kind of hectic - left my bag w all my stuff (wallet, passport, pilgrim’s credential) at my hotel and had to taxi back for it and then taxi back to where I was. However, I fell back into the rhythm of things ! The trail was right next to the highway the entire day today, which meant I spent more time listening to audiobooks trying to drown out the cars than I usually do. I arrived in the town I originally planned to stay - San Martín Del Camino - too early (noon) and I was having fun trying to converse w a French lady who spoke zero English but spoke Spanish to the same level I do. Although we were able to communicate pretty well via Spanish, a lot of the ‘conversation’ was just us laughing because we were mutually struggling to communicate. Anyway, I decided to walk 5 mi further than previously anticipated to Hospital de Órbigo. I love this town and the albergue I’m staying in tonight so much that I’ll dedicate a later second post to it !Read more
