    Day Two: Border Tag

    July 16, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

20.8 miles. Set out with my new trail family and made it past Rock Pass which was the anticipated impassable turn around spot for a lot of hikers attempting to tag the border in the surrounding days. It turned out to be one of the easier snow parts and was not a problem getting through. We whipped out the micro spikes and ice axes because we had been carrying them and will be carrying them for quite some time so we felt like me needed to at least use them. Saw lots of marmots sun bathing and picked up our sixth trail family member, Alex (San Diego). We then set out for Hopkins Lake, set up camp and slacked backed down to the border. The trail was heavy with vegetations and tons of blowdowns. Finally tagged Canada and signed the record book!!! Then made the grueling 6 miles back up to camp all up hill. We all were hurting pretty bad at this point.Read more
