We were packed and ready to leave at 10:30 after blowing 5" of fresh snow. The roads weren't too bad and the drive was good until we stopped at the DeWitt rest area. Went pee and walked the dogs, but when I got back in the Colorado it wouldn't start. Tried jumping it to no avail. To expensive to tow it to Marcie's so we decided to call Dewitt service center to see if they could look at it while we're gone to Florida. Followed the tow truck to the shop and then headed to Marcie's. Only lost about an hour and got there around 5:30. Visited for a bit and had a yummy corned beef and cabbage dinner then headed out at 7:30 hoping to at least get to Nashville tonight.Weiterlesen

We slept for about 4 hours in the Cracker Barrel parking lot. Got up at 8:00 and Mel ordered breakfast and I found a nice area in between fences where I could let the dogs roam off leash. Mel ate his breakfast and got mine for takeout. The wind is still brutal today and the traffic isn't bad, but we are making poor time. Bowling Green to Apalachicola should have only taken us 9 and 1/2 hours but having to stop every 2 hours to fill up with gas and walk the dogs really slows us down. Left KY at 9:30 am and didn't get to Meem's until 11 pm. It was a very long 14 hr day behind the wheel and it was nice to take a break and visit. Woke up at 8 a.m. cleaned up the trailer, walked the dogs then tied them out while we ate breakfast. We had a lovely morning visit and left at 11 a.m. and M&J left for a picnic with friends. It was a nice drive along the coast till we headed south along Hwy. 98/19. Arrived at the campground at 4 p.m., 53 hours after leaving home! I'm done with traveling and so are the dogs!Weiterlesen

We're both still tired from the drive so no plans to do anything today. Took the dogs for a 2 mile walk in the morning and it was a little too far cuz my hips are sore. I do love my pop up seat though and carry it and lots of water for the dogs in my backpack. Organized the trailer a bit and washed the right side of the trailer cuz it's so dirty around the door and where we sit. Up and down the ladder did me in and I'm pooped 💩 💩. The dogs are settling in and not barking so much but it's a shit show always untangling their tie outs. To bed early.Weiterlesen

Got a good night's sleep and up at 7 a.m. Walked 1.5 miles today and earlier before it got to hot. Found the wireless fence and got Mattie and Ramsey's collars on, then left a leash clipped to their harness so it looks like they're tied. Put the dog fence up to keep the dogs from digging in the dirt and it's much nicer with only two tie outs to get tangled.
I are breakfast then went to town. Mel stayed back with the dogs cuz he is having a hard time getting around and feels really useless. Went looking for a new blanket at Beall's and bought a sun shade chair for Mel and a shirt for me. Went to Walmart and spent $175, but finally found a dog food that Pepper and Peanut will eat! Coffee, walk, then left around 12:30 to pick up a few things before my pedicure at 2:00. I got the Volcano treatment with the mask, hot towels, lotion, hot stone massage and gel nails. I could tell that the girl I had was new and the owner kept looking over her shoulder to see how she was doing. She did smudge a couple of nails but no big deal for me.
Back to the trailer and got Mel and the pups then headed to the Seafood Seller for dinner. Mel got the BOGO raw oysters and I got the blackened sea scallops with red beans and rice. Yum Yum!Weiterlesen

Up with the sun and got out for my walk early before it gets hot. Mel is going to town to get a few things and I told him to get the Vizio 24" smart TV from Walmart for $99.
While he was gone, a gentleman with a large motor home pulled out of his lot with his awning open and wrecked the whole thing. Our next door neighbor and I got out her ladder and helped him take off the whole frame. Felt so bad for him.
Mel got back with the ratchet straps and I glued the cracked cupboard back together. Straps worked perfectly.
Windy today with leaves and dust blowing everywhere, then we lost power around 3:00. I hope it comes back on before bedtime or it's going to be miserable sleeping.
The power did come back on in the evening, thank God, but still no water! 💦Weiterlesen

Not much happening today. Still no water in the park this morning and luckily I had enough water in the dog's jugs to make coffee. I went to the gas station and filled up 3 gallon jugs so I could have water for our walk. This morning's walk was brutal. I really had to push myself to go a mile and the mile back was painful.
Off to town to see if I could exchange chairs at Bealls but ended up buying a shower dress, a couple of T's and camp capris!
Talked to Marianne and made plans to rent the pontoon while they're here the 13th and 14th. We might kayak Weeki Wachee on the 15th.
Set up the new TV and it took 2+ hours to download the updates, but it works.Weiterlesen
