Thanjavur Big Temple

Next stop the Thanjavur Big Temple. It had a 1,000th birthday in 2010 that apparently they celebrated well! The official name is the Brihadisvara Temple was built by Rajaraja 1 another Chola emperor but everyone knows it simply as the Big Temple due to its size. Has to be said the scale was pretty impressive. We were intrigued by the handprints on the wall and how high they were. We did lots of speculating on how they got as high as they did.
