Heritage Open Days is held for one week in September every year to celebrate England's architecture and culture by hosting free tours. Wentworth Castle had been closed for years, and was remodeled as a residential college. We had visited the huge gardens previously and had found that the home was not usually open to the public except for today's special event.

The house was first built in 1670, and over time, different owners added other wings in different architectural styles, creating a new front each time.

Because it is a college, the rooms are very different than they used to be, but looking at the ceilings and gilded mouldings gives a hint of its former grandeur. What an inspiring place to take college courses!
