    Stirling is in a strategic location in central Scotland, situated between Edinburg and Glasgow, and was the best crossing of the River Forth while going north to the Highlands or south to the Lowlands. There is a beautiful old bridge there.

    Sterling old town is on a hill, leading up to the castle. On another hill/craig is a monument to William Wallace, the real Braveheart, who defeated the English in The Battle of Stirling Bridge, to reclaim Scotland's independence. Wars have happened many times over this issue.
