Oxford

We took the train from Penzance this morning (Chris, our landlord, drove us to the station) to Oxford, with a change at Reading. The first train was late so we missed our connection but were able to get on a later one. There is a rebate-for-late so we will investigate how much we can get back. The trip took nearly six hours.

Disaster almost struck when we tried to book into our accommodation, a 10 min walk from the station and close to the centre of town. Claire had inadvertently cancelled the booking! The hotel was full but the receptionist was helpful and we found another place, further out (at Iffley) but much nicer and cheaper. The room is quite large with a large window.

We enjoyed an Indian meal at the hotel then watched Glastonbury on TV.Read more
