    El Musee des Ursulines

    Since it was a rainy day, it was a good day for museums. I had a reservation for the art museum at 3:00, but I spent the morning at the Musee des Ursulines. It was a boarding school for both First Nation and French-speaking girls. Some girls were there to become nuns and others just to receive an education. They didn’t say much about the First Nation residents; it was not a residential school and it seems like they were happy but it is hard to know how they were treated.

    Their focus was education but they also saw the importance of the arts. Their specialty was embroidery. This year the museum invited local textile artists in and those artists then used something in the museum to create a new piece of art. I had been to the museum before, but this exhibit was new to me and very interesting.
