The Way of Suffering

The Way of Suffering, (or the Via Dolorosa ), is the traditional route that Jesus walked from trial to crucifixion. The number of Stations and the events represented has varied from 7 to 18 or more. Of the present 14 Stations, 9 are based on Gospel accounts and 5 on tradition only. The path begins just inside Lions’ Gate in the Muslim Quarter and ends at the Holy Church of the Sepulcher in the Christian Quarter.
