    According to Christian tradition, Jesus is said to have been born at the Grotto of the Nativity, enshrined since the fourth century in the Church of the Nativity. To enter the church, one must kneel over because the door is so short. It is called the Door of Humility. The 3rd century St Jerome put into words my feelings at this location: “If I could only see that manger in which the Lord lay!
