    Arriving in lerwick we dropped off our cases and headed out for the day. A beautiful town with lots of history. Shame its out if season as not a lot open... We still managed to walk a little over 16k. The wind was strong and reminds us a lot of the Falklands.Read more

    The rain wont stop us!

    Today we took the bus from Lerwick to Sumburgh to visit the Sumburgh Head lighthouse and Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Village. This was a very VERY wet day, the only waterproof clothing I had on was my boots! We had planned an additional 10 mile walk but that's a tomorrow's trip... The lighthouse although closed was worth the walk as we had a surprise...Puffins! We heard rumours they may land as they have been flying about. They are so adorable. We then walked to Jarlshof and this has been the highlight of the trip, beautifully preserved buildings spanning over 2000 years old.Read more

    Hello Sunshine!

    After a stormy night the sun popped out to say hello! We caught the early bus to St Ninians Isle. This tombolo is heavily photographed and used in advertising for shetland tourism. The water rarely meets in the middle however its been noted to happen when there is a good spring storm. Ermm guess what....it happened the day we visited!! We could not get across!! However what a beautiful location for lunch! We then caught the bus back to Fjara cafe that unfortunately only had chocolate cake left 😔 Brandon enjoyed a very large piece! Now sitting on the ferry ready for departure. The sea is flat!!Read more

    On the way home!!

    OMG another storm!! This storm was worse. The whole ferry shook, banged and clattered with every smack of a wave. So many people being sick around us. One gentleman got of at Orkney to go to the hospital as that sick! However we are now on the train back to Elgin!Read more
