• From Rain to Rock!

    June 8 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 8 °C

Greeted by a drizzly, cold 🥶 and wet 🌧️ morning in Melbourne, waiting for the Skybus to the airport. A tad excited because a $65 bid for a business class upgrade with Virgin was granted so I’m off to luxuriate in the airport lounge before the flight ✈️

Not the glittery star 🌟 I thought it might be but perfect to recline & relax pre-boarding. The cute mini muffins reminiscent of the destination…

Onboard, felt privileged to have one of only 8 Business Class seats: wide and comfortable. Sparkling 🍾 served and my jacket hung behind my chair. Settled in for the 2.5 hours through to one of my bucket 🪣 list destinations: Uluru & the Red Centre of our Great Southern Land! 🏜️

Awe inspiring view coming into Uluru seeing the Rock for the first time! We saw the Olgas from the plane as well. It is hard to believe we are actually here. The red earth is so ‘electric’ and magnificent.

The Resort is fairly basic and uninspiring but will do the job. I unpacked & jumped straight in the pool. It was ice 🧊 cold 🥶
My vision of whiling away the hours one afternoon in it will definitely not be happening.

I stumbled upon the Lookout point for witnessing Ayres Rock at sunset 🌅 It was absolutely breathtaking to watch the colours change before our eyes! Photos cannot truly capture the beauty of this moment. It also went from 20° down to 10° in a matter of minutes.

Rounding off our day, we went to the Ilkari buffet Restaurant at the main Sails Resort and devoured delicious morsels, including succulent seafood, tender kangaroo 🦘 yummy lamb 🐑 chops & sweet desserts 🍨 until we were in our food coma; rolling back to our rooms at The Lost Camel 🐪 Hotel.
