    Switzerland🇨🇭to Montengro 🇲🇪

    September 21, 2025 in Montenegro ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Up before the sun (4:30am) to catch the early (and only) flight to Dubrovnik , Croatia. All went smooth and we grabbed a rental car at the airport. We got lucky with our border crossing and it was 45 mins instead of the possible 2-3 hours 😳

We got into our place and it’s right on the water near the harbour and promenade ⛵️ Location looks beautiful, but we’ve spent most the day napping on our patio haha

  • Oops, We Did It Again 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️

    September 23, 2025 in Montenegro ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Another beach day! Weather is 75 n sunny and it’s too nice to resist ☀️

We took a morning walk and stumbled on a luxury beach club that offered a day pass. The views were incredible and we had great access to the bay and a pool. We spent most of the day here! Grant found a nice restaurant and rewarded himself with shrimp-stuffed calamari, which we didn’t know existed haha

We ended the day with a great dinner at a place that was recommended to us by our Airbnb host!

10/10 great day in Herceg Novi

  • Day Trip to Trebinje ⛪️🍷

    September 24, 2025 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

We went to Trebinje, Bosnia for the day! With the border crossing into Bosnia & Herzegovina it took about an hour and a half - not too bad.

First stop was the Tvrdoš Monastery, a 15th century monastery. They were harvesting and processing grapes for their winery, which was cool to see but unfortunately meant that the winery was closed for tasting.

We walked around Old Town and stopped at an ice cream shop for a sundae and espresso. Before we left town, we drove up to an Orthodox Church, Hercegovačka Gračanica, that overlooked the whole city.

We got back to Herceg Novi for dinner. We went to a Georgian restaurant and it was one of our favorite meals of the trip! The waiters were super nice and taught us how to eat their dumplings and bread/cheese boat.

  • Quiet, Rainy Day 🌧️

    September 25, 2025 in Montenegro ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

It was an overcast and drizzly morning. We walked and got cappuccinos along the water. We found a couple chairs under an umbrella and sat by the water until the weather cleared around midday.

We found a cute cafe for lunch and spent the early afternoon walking around the town. We found a couple of art shops and landmarks we hadn’t seen yet. It was a nice slow day before we started work at 3pm.Read more

  • First Day in Brussels

    September 26, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 59 °F

We had an easy trip back across the border to fly from Dubrovnik to Brussels, the final stop on our bonus week.

We walked around the center of Brussels in the afternoon and stopped for a couple of Belgian beers and a snack.

We joined an evening walking tour about the “dark side” of Brussels. The guide shared execution stories and odd tales. The tour was just ok, but it was a nice way to see a lot of the city. We ended at a nice overlook of Brussels and were able to catch the sunset.

We finished our day with a nice dinner at a Belgian Brassiere.

  • Government, Beer, & Stories!

    September 27, 2025 in Belgium ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We started our day with Belgian waffles and coffee on our way to another walking tour. We really enjoyed this tour! We walked around the European Quarter and saw the EU buildings. The walking tour was about the history of EU government and how it works today.

Then we went on a brewery tour and learned about the history of beer in Brussels and specifically about Lambic beer and how the monk’s used to brew!

Our EU walking tour guide told us about a local storytelling event he was hosting. We stopped by and met a bunch of locals! We listened to 8 stories, a mix of funny and sad. We’re happy we took him up on it!
