    Little Mermaid

    Today our walking adventures started in Copenhagen at 10 am. We first walked to the little mermaid. The sculpture is on a rock by the waterside, she is 1.25 metres high and based on the fairy tale by author Hans Christian Andersen, the small statue is a Copenhagen icon and has been a major tourist attraction since its unveiling in 1913. In recent decades it has become a popular target for defacement by vandals and political activists and a perch for sea birds.Read more
