Inside the Caves

1st cave has 15m reclining Buddha and numerous small statues and artwork.

2nd cave has murals including stories from the life of Buddha and a wooden statue of King Valagamba.

3rd cave has a statue of the last King of Kandy wearing a crown.

4th cave is the smallest and was believed to contain jewellery of one of the queens but thrives broke in and stolen it all.

5th and newest cave features a reclining Buddha and Hindu deities.Read more
