Leaving Alice Spings

On our way to our next destination. A Town like Alice was very interesting. Heaps to see and do, a shame we never got to do the ballooning over the MacDonnell Ranges. We might just have to come backBaca selengkapnya
Driving to Stuarts Well

The drive from Alice Springs to Stuarts Well along the Stuart Highway is very straight and very bumpy. I guess we will get used to that the more we drive. The vegetation is very low and dry. SpeedBaca selengkapnya

Driving to Erldunda

Still 130 km driving speed along Stuart Highway the road flat and bumpy a few rock formations and hardly anyone on the road. Easy to fall asleep. No wonder this road is the most dangerous in NT.
Erldunda

Erldunda is a lot more substantial than the previous stop. Still basic food in the Cafe but we are eating in the van. Much easy for my tummy. Still has an emu park.
We are also in the Centre ofBaca selengkapnya
Driving to Curtin Springs

More open flat road and my turn to drive.
Mount Conner

Mount Conner, 300 metres above the surrounding plain, is a flat-topped and horseshoe-shaped monolith, part of the same vast rocky substrate thought to be beneath Uluru/Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta/Olgas.Baca selengkapnya
Curtin Springs

This was a drive thru, decided at $2.99 litre to fill up was not really needed.
Driving to the Campground

Still flat and dry. Uluru is in the distance we must be getting closer.
Ayers Rock Campground

Arrived and all set up in 5min, quicker than last time as we needed to work out everything then. Certainly, much quicker than a tent.
Ayers Rock Campground

Afternoon tea and a walk around. This is a very basic but busy caravan park. Hardly any space between vans we are just about touching the van behind us. Just as well we are in a little monster not aBaca selengkapnya
It's my Birthday

Up early to get ready for the busy day.
The agenda is Scenic Flight around Uluru, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, Sounds of Silence Dinner and Field of Lights.
Scenic Flight

This morning we went on a Scenic Flight around Uluru. I was in the front seat so a great view taking off and landing. The flight was only 20min but we went over the Resort and over well, not over butBaca selengkapnya
Shuttle Bus

Now for a shuttle bus ride to the Hotel Section of Ayers Rock Resort. The resort is really spread out and we did not want to walk. So bus ride it is.
Bush Tucker

The reason to get to the other part of the resort was so we could listen to a bush tucker talk. The guides were excellent explaining where, what and how to gather, prepare and cook different berries,Baca selengkapnya
Gallery

Next stop was the gallery. Some of the artwork was really good. A shame it is so expensive, and we do not have any empty walls. We did make 1 purchase for me.
Sturt Desert Pea

Back to the Campground

Shuttle bus back to the campground for lunch and to get ready for the night's activity.
Bubbles at the Rock

My birthday dinner started with bubbles and canapes overlooking the Rock. Pretty special.
Sounds of Silence Dinner

Then dinner.
The food was average but still fun and worth doing at least once. We sat with an interesting group of people, a couple from Blue Mountains who live in Newcastle at the moment, anotherBaca selengkapnya
Field of Lights

After dinner we went for a stroll in an art installation called Field Of Lights. This installation of 50,000 lights is really cool.
Bedtime

What a great day, now back to the Campground for a sleep. Tomorrow, we continue our adventures around Uluru.
Driving to Uluru

Today we drove to Uluru. Like all the roads here it was very easy.
