  • Breakfree Aanuka Beach

    May 12, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

Arrived in Coffs Harbour safe and sound. The drive was easy, however, it was a little overcast and wet most of the way. Our room whilst basic is fine it is a little dark outside for photos but a walk around tomorrow before we leave is on the to do list.

Dinner at the restaurant was ok. John's entree was pork belly, scallops and a yummy fennel salad. The scallops were yummo. John's main was steak with potato gratin. He enjoyed both. Mine was horrible, a Vietnamese salad covered in olive oil with a sweet and sour what tasted more like a bottled sauce, tough chewy fish and 3 prawns. 2 prawns peeled 1 not. I even asked the waiter about the dressing. Nothing fresh about mine. At least John had a nice dinner for his birthday. Note to self be even more specific about your meal choices. Sorry forgot photos of the meals. Tomorrow night I will remember.

  • Hotel Grounds

    May 13, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

The rooms are basic but have everything you need, just a few things badly designed. The resort itself even in the rain looks great especially for kids. I think this could be on the list for a family vacation.Read more

  • Big Banana

    May 13, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

You just cannot pass the Big Banana at Coffs without a chocolate coated Banana even if it is early in the morning.

  • Little Italy

    May 13, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

My turn to drive this morning. I drove to Little Italy and thought this would be a great place to have a coffee, cake and change of driver. Woah, we were so wrong. This place has so much potential but I would not recommend stopping. Well, not for the coffee anyway. Who puts milk in an espresso coffee? Not only milk but very weak. John enjoyed his cappuccino but nothing special. The vegan carrot cake looked yummy but tasted yuk, it was not even cooked. I am getting so hard to please these days but gee how hard can it be for a coffee and cake. Anyway back on the road, Pullman Brisbane Hotel next stop.Read more

  • Pullman Brisbane

    May 13, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

Arrived safe and sound. A little bit of rain but not that bad considering the weather reports and news.

This Hotel is quite good for an airport hotel. We selected this hotel as Melissa, Luke and the boys arrive tomorrow on a Qantas flight. Easier to meet them here and do the bag shuffle for Tangalooma.

The other reason we selected this hotel was it has a restaurant, our bad luck it is closed today but the Ibis next door's restaurant was open. Not a fancy restaurant but quite nice.

Finished the day with a coffee at the bar.

The ferry trip was easy only a little rough for a few minutes. Charlie was first off the boat and ran down the wharf he was so excited to be here!

  • Tangalooma Helicopter Experience

    May 15, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

The morning started with Charlie waiting for us to wake up peering out the window.

After breakfast we all went for a walk to the helicopter pad for a talk about the Tangalooma Helicopter but due to bad weather it was cancelled. The weather seemed fine but Helicopter did not arrive from Brisbane so John and Charlie played on the equipment near the Helipad.Read more

  • Cubby House

    May 15, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Back to room for morning tea and building a cubby in the lounge room. Charlie decided that all the chairs, tables and anything else he could find would make a wonderful cubby. The cubby had a bedroom, train station, roads, rivers covered in slime and even crocodiles. John had to build it with him while Luke and myself along with John had certain activities we had to do. Charlie certainly was the boss with a vivid imagination.Read more

Lunch now done and dusted, Charlie and John back playing in the cubby.

We are hoping for the wind to pick up this afternoon so we can go parasailing. The wind has dropped which makes parasailing very difficult as we cannot be lifted off the water. Yes, I can hear those giggles. No wind when you want it.Read more
