  • Playtime with Pop

    May 20, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

A lazy day of not really doing anything which is the point of a holiday in Tangalooma, however, as you have noticed Charlie is John's shadow they play all day and sometimes Zach gets a turn with Pop,

  • Goodbye Tangalooma

    May 21, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

Goodbye Tangalooma until next time we visit. Even though the weather was not the greatest and ride back to Brisbane was rough we still enjoyed our week on Tangalooma.

John and I had wonderful time having the Wilson's with us this year and hope we will all be back soon. Tangalooma brought back many memories for Melissa visiting here many times as a child. Her last visit was 20 years ago when she was with Michael and some friends. Now she can build her own family memories just like John and I when Michael and Melissa were young. Now all grown up she is able to create more memorable times with Luke and her children but with us along for the ride.Read more

  • Byron Bay is next

    May 21, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

At the Holt Sreet wharf it was time to say goodbye to the Wilsons as they were flying back to Sydney and we were continuing our holiday for a few extra days driving to Byron Bay. Dare I say to catch up with the Hemsworth's. The weather has not improved which is annoying especially for John who is driving.

We selected Byron for a short break on the way home as we have not been for many years and thought as it a coastal town we might be able to get some sun for a change. It does have a number of things which are great for the tourist like us. The iconic Cape Byron lighthouse, beaches, shopping and dining.

  • Artvo Surfers Paradise

    May 22, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

As the weather is still dreadful we decided to drive back to Queensland and go to Artvo. It is like stepping into a world of optical illusions, larger than life murals that allowed us to come face to face with King Kong, fight a dragon and surf the ultimate pipelines and so much more. I actually took 112 photo's but I will not share them all just a few.Read more

  • Byron Bay Town Centre

    May 23, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

The weather is still not the best but we did get a short reprieve so we ventured out for coffee and cake as well as a walk around town wearing thongs (flip flops for my American friends) we felt like locals.Read more

  • Surfs Up

    May 23, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

Certainly not beach weather but that does not appear to stop the locals. So many old surfer dudes and dreadlocks.

  • Cape Byron Lighthouse

    May 23, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

We did not walk to the lighthouse as it was raining but we did drive up as close as we could. It certainly was a shame it was pouring as we would have spent time to take in the Lighthouse and the view.

Some history behind the lighthouse though.

Built at the turn of the 19th century to protect ships passing along the coast, Cape Byron Lighthouse stands resolute on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Operated by resident keepers until 1989, its' now automated light is clearly visible from the Byron Bay township.

  • The Hemsworth's

    May 23, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 18 °C

Sorry, Chris was not home, so no invite for coffee or a drink overlooking the ocean, but I did get a photo of the gate going down to his property.

  • Leaving Byron Bay

    May 24, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

The Bay was a little bit disappointing due to the weather, maybe we will come back and experience all Byron has to offer. Our accommodation was lovely and had everything you need for a few days.

    Port Macquarie next stop.Read more
