The initial view from the car -- no Aoraki yet, but beautiful just the same.
It didn't take long to find our first lookout point. Here we're ~1hr away from our destination. That's Aoraki just over Janine's left shoulder.Another lookout point ... there were so many it was tough to decide when to stop.Back on the road...Our drive hugged Lake Pukaki while still keeping Aoraki in a distant view.Getting closer!Another lookout stop.Another lookout stop. Some 40% of Aoraki/Mt Cook NP is covered in glaciers.

    Drive to Mt Cook

    March 9 ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

Janet & Simon stayed w/ us last night; & today we all went to find a hike for some views of Aoraki (aka: Mt Cook).
Aoraki is NZ's highest mountain at 3724m & is located within the 700 sq km area of SW NZ known as Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.
The drive just to get there was stunning.
