We spent two nights here waiting for the torrential rain to ease. The west coast had 350mm in 24 hours, making hiking to the glacier and seeing Mt Cook impossible. It was still an enjoyable place to be stuck in. We visited the wildlife centre and saw the rescued little blue penguins, a couple of kiwis in the nocturnal house and some tuatara.Read more
