    6.–8. maj, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

We spent two nights here waiting for the torrential rain to ease. The west coast had 350mm in 24 hours, making hiking to the glacier and seeing Mt Cook impossible. It was still an enjoyable place to be stuck in. We visited the wildlife centre and saw the rescued little blue penguins, a couple of kiwis in the nocturnal house and some tuatara.Læs mere

    7.–11. maj, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We stayed in Lower Shotover, about 8kms out of Queenstown itself. Queenstown was very busy and traffic and parking was quite chaotic at times, made worse by major roadworks on the one road in. It is a very beautiful place, with the Remarkables Range looking over the city and the lake.Læs mere

    11.–15. maj, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Dunedin proved to be an excellent base to explore the country around. We took a trip on an historic train line into the Tairei Gorge, amasterpiece of 19th Century engineering. A drive out along the Ortago Peninsula is well worthwhile, with a stop to explore the Lanarch Castle, a beautiful 19th Century grand house. WHile in Dunedin, a "must visit" is the Best Cafe, a seafood cafe with beautiful chowder and excellent fish and chips. It is furnished in its 1932 simplicity.Læs mere
