• Lyell Pass and Lake St Clair

    6. kesäkuuta 2024, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

Drove part of the Lyell Pass past Queenstown, stopping at a viewpoint and a couple of forest walks on the way. The mountains around Queenstown were quite impressive, also incredible how much they'd been stripped for copper mining. The colours of the rock were beautiful though.
Bumped into some of the people who were on the Gordon River cruise at the stops we made.
Had lunch in the van after doing the Nelson Falls walk. Rosie happily ran the whole way, stopping occasionally when we said we needed to be quiet to look for platypus. We didn't see any sadly. She also enjoyed Matt's game of bumping trees so the drips fell on everyone!
The girls had a nap whilst we had each had a quick walk to Franklin River a bit further along the pass. Lots of beautiful fungi, moss and lichen in the forests here. Got to Lake St Clair just in time for a walk down to the lake. It was so calm and still, the reflections were so pretty. Ate dinner at the lodge restaurant. The girls both are really well. Stopped by the jetty on the way back to see the incredibly bright stars.
