• Day 3 Last day in Salzburg

Another day of sightseeing. Our 1st stop was to Hitler's Retreat, Eagles Nest up in the Alps. There's nothing special about the house itself. Now used for a few restaurants. It's the views and history. While I was riding the shuttle to the top, going thru the tunnel, and looking at the famous fireplace, I was filled with so much emotion. So many lives lost, so many countries making extrodinary sacrifices during WW2. Recollecting scenes from Band of Brothers. Maybe because I have a son serving his country or just maybe because I can't wrap my mind around the monster Hitler and his military leaders were. I felt a strong urge to pay my respects. To say Thank you to every man and woman who served/ who currently serve their countries. For all the sacrifices. Thank you to all the families who held it together while their babies went off to war and so many never came home. I stand here today on this mountain looking over these Alps paying my respects. Their lives and sacrifices dont go unrecognized. Sorry for the rambel. I'm a proud american, I love this land, and I stand proud to salute our beautiful flag because I understand the cost and what it truly represents🇺🇲🗽Read more
