    There's not much history in Taiwan. Earthquakes and typhoons mean that things don't last for long. However, it's also because they don't care well for what they have. These buildings date from the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945). There are not many left. See how the bricks have fallen away from the top if the wall. See how they cover them up with shabby signs. So sad.

    On the other hand, the tilework and stained glass on the modern art-centre is beautiful, as is the countryside.
