Budva Beach Day

Not much really happened today, and in retrospect, Budva wasn't the most exciting town. But we had expected to spend most of the day relaxing by the beach, and we were more than happy with that. We caught up with the French-Canadian we'd met on the bus, whose name I’ve forgotten, and made our way to a quieter beach outside the Old Town. There were still a few people around, but it was much bigger and gave everyone plenty of space. Jack had bought a mini soccer ball, and somehow we ended up throwing that thing around for a good couple of hours. It was a pretty simple way to spend the afternoon, but it was exactly what we needed. The views from the beach were incredible. Looking out over the crystal-clear water, rocky coastline and enormous mountains in the background, it was easy to sit there for hours and take it all in.

Unfortunately, the heat at the moment was becoming genuinely unbearable. Staying in direct sunlight for more than 30 minutes was difficult, so eventually we decided we'd had enough and headed off.

We stopped at the shops and bought an entire watermelon and some feta. The French-Canadian insisted that the combination was great, but personally, I would have much rather eaten the watermelon on its own. After some more aimless wandering around Budva, the day was pretty much over. We headed back to the hostel for the night, happy enough with a slow day by the beach.Read more
