    Splügen

    24 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

After an early start leaving home before 7am, we already arrived at the parking place of Splügen just after 8:30am. This was the start point of the first hike of our "Tour de Suisse". Along the Splügen Pass Street, we soon arrived at the Cable car station. From there it was a steady climb to the lakes of Suretta. Some Marmots welcomed us on our way up (or rather they screemed at us). Little streams could be found along the way and provided Awen with some refreshment. After the last steep climb, we arrived at the beautiful lakes, with their green color. It didn't take Awen long to jump into the cool water and to catch the ball.
2 hours later, we arrived back where we started in the morning. The track had taken us along the steep forest path down to Splügen.

  • Thusis

    24 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

We arrived at our first stop. Originally I had planned to stay somewhere in the nature, but finally decided to go to the camping place in Thusis. This means comfort like toilets, shower, electricity and and shop. But it also meant noise, other people and Awen restricted on leash.
On our way from Splügen we stopped at the Hinterrhein and refreshed ourselves in the freezing cold, but cristal-clear water.
While I was totally exhausted and tired, Awen seemed to be not the least tired and asked to play and go for more walks!
Another swim in the Rhein finally made the trick. Awen started to relax and sleep. 😀

  • Julierpass

    25 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Escaping the heat and enjoy the fresh morning! The second day started with a nice drive through along the Julierpass. Near the top, we stopped and first of all had a good breakfast. The climb up to Leg Grevasalvas turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. Mainly because of blisters on my feet (wrong socks on the previous day). A fantastic lake awaited us on the top. A quick swim and down we went again.En savoir plus

  • Maloja and Flüelapass

    25 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Down in the valley, it was time to use the Paddle! We decided, despite the strong wind, to go for a short trip on the water. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bad idea. Not only was it very difficult to come back, but out in the water the paddle suddenly broke. With effort and after quite some time we eventually returned to the entry spot. After enjoying a nice lunch on the board of the lake, our trip continued to St. Moritz, Zernez and ended on the Flüelapass, where we spent the night.En savoir plus

  • Wägitalersee

    26 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

A little mountain lake in the Canton of Schwyz was our next destination. Since there was no way I was able to walk uphill with all my blisters, I decided to do a "flat" hike around the lake of Wägital. The advantages of being early birds (yes, Awen gets up at 05:30) is that we we were the first people on the lake and temperatures were just above 25C. Perfect to swim and enjoy some sun.
In the afternoon we passed along the Sihl lake (and did some SUP) and then to the town of Schwyz. Since heavy thunderstorms were predicted, we decided to "visit" Roland to enjoy a nice, long shower.

  • Bucheggberg

    27 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

It does not always need to be a famous mountain lake or a stunning pass. Sometimes an ordinary walk in the typical swiss country side leads to the discovery of the beauty in little things. This 2 hours walk through forest, fields and along little streams had everything to offer than the big mountain areas.En savoir plus

  • Schwarzsee

    29 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

After we were chased away by a farmer and his goats at the Gantrisch Lake, we decided to go to the near place of Schwarzsee. A nice little tour around the lake made a nice morning walk and gave Awen the chance to swim. Since the weather did not get better and the sun kept hiding behind clouds, the SUP had to remain in the car for once.En savoir plus

  • Oberer Gurnigel

    29 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Since we could not do any SUP, we decided to move on to our next destination, the Gantrisch Nature Park. We parked the car at an amazing location with a beautiful view over Thun and the lake of Thun. But first, it was time for our second hike of the day, up to the Oberer Gurnigel, a little hill with a fantastic view over the region.En savoir plus

  • An afternoon on the beach

    30 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

This afternoon I was visiting Awen's parents and sister and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on a little private beach on the shores of lake Thun. Four Border Collies swimming, running, playing for hours, none was tired. (Except Pelé, who is now 11 years old and needs a few minutes break after an hour playing).En savoir plus

  • 3 passes in 1 day

    31 juillet 2019, Suisse ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We spent the night on the Glaubenbühlpass, the connection between Entlebuch/Sörenberg and Brünig/Lungern. As some thunderstorms were predicted, I used the cover for the van, which non only kept me try, but also warm. The following morning we did a nice little walk on the shoulder of the hill before heading for our second pass, the Brünig. As the weather still was very cloudy, we did a small walk on the Aare canyon in Meiringen. Unfortunately, on the 3rd pass, the Grimselpass, which I had planned to spend the night, the weather was so bad (8C and thick fog prevented us from going on a nice walk), we just spent an hour on the top so Awen could run around the snow.
Down in Wallis, we decided to stay on a small camping place. Very basic and quite, with a lot of nature and water around. Perfect for us and great for doing a little walk in the forest.
