Desierto Florido - day 1

Heavy winter storms brought rain to the atacama desert, which let's the desert bloom. A fascinating scenario that only occurs every few years. The last year with rainfalls as heavy as this years, where in 1998.
We take a flight from santiago to la serena where we pick up our rental and continue to a place close to Vallenar.
During my motorbike trip I made a stop in this city there is not a lot too see, a classical northern mining town. Luckily our cabana is outside of the city. We find some german beer and a nice place for a sunset accompanied by some friendly stray dogs.Read more
